Manual configuration with root credentials of the network config file, which is the responsible for the IP information in my debian system. The file name is /etc/network/interfaces I will first make backup of my original file as /etc/network/interfaces.bak and then proceed for the changes /etc/network/interfaces

mv /etc/network/interfaces /etc/network/interfaces.bak

sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces

I will change  the value like this

iface lo inet loopback

#My IP description
# IPv4 address
iface eth0 inet static
	address	192.168.1.100
	netmask	255.255.255.0
	network	192.168.1.0
	broadcast 192.168.1.255

ESXi 6.5 – Memory limit doesn’t accept the negative value -1048576

Written by leif. Posted in ESX, Linux, Tips

Memory limit doesn’t accept the negative value -1048576 error

MacOS Sierra 10.12 and Safari 10.0. Reopening the ‘edit’ screen produces a Memory limit doesn’t accept the negative value -1048576 error. This was also in the previous OS X and Safari error. Reloading the page (cmd + R) fixes it, then you can reopen the edit screen and make changes.

I use Firefox instead, it´s easier.

Wipe / clear / reset a Chromebit

Written by leif. Posted in Archive, Tips

  1. Turn off the Chromebit by removing the power cord.
  2. Put a paperclip (or pushpin) into the recovery button hole while reattaching the power cord (to turn on the device). The recovery button hole is circled below:
  3. Press Ctrl + D.
  4. Once again, put a paperclip (or pushpin) into the recovery button hole. The device reboots and displays a red exclamation point.
  5. Press Ctrl + D. The Chromebit reboots and starts the transition to developer mode. This clears all local data, a process that takes approximately 10 minutes.
If Forced re-enrollment is enabled for the device, you’ll see a note that developer mode is blocked. This shortens the wipe process, and still allows for re-enrollment when the device automatically reboots into verified mode.

  6. At the startup screen, press the spacebar, and then press Enter to reboot the device and return to verified mode.
  7. If you’re using a managed Chromebit for your school or business, follow these steps to enroll the device.

Hosts

Modify your hosts file

Last updated on: 2016-06-08 Authored by: Rackspace Support

Modifying your hosts file enables you to override the DNS for a domain, on that particular machine. This is useful when you want to test your site without the test link, prior to going live with SSL; verify that an alias site works, prior to DNS changes; and for other DNS-related reasons. Modifying your hosts file causes your local machine to look directly at the IP address specified.

To modify the hosts file, you add two entries to the file that contains the IP address that you want the site to resolve to and the address. Adding the following two lines, for example, point www.domain.com anddomain.com to our current PHP5-ITK (“Refreshed” PHP5) cluster:

64.49.219.194 www.domain.com 64.49.219.194 domain.com
